CAFAS Online

The links on this page for CAFAS Online are hosted by the University of South Australia, Information Strategy Technology Services unit (ISTS).

A system called Shibboleth is used to authenticate users. This enables academics to use their institutional username and password to access CAFAS Online (no new password needed). However not all institutions have implemented Shibboleth. For more information about Shibboleth visit http://shibboleth.internet2.edu/about.html

This page has the current URL to enable you to access CAFAS. It might change from time to time as updated versions of CAFAS are implemented so please keep checking this website for the most up to date URL.

Step 1

First you need to register here (you only need to do this the first time you use CAFAS)

http://test.cafas.unisa.edu.au/register.asp

Note: before assigning colleagues to be able to use CAFAS ask them to register first. After they have done so you will be able to give them access via Admin Setup/Users & Permissions.

This link will take you to a page that will "authenticate" you. This means it "recognises" you based on the fact that you are already logged into your university network (if you are working from home you will need to be using your institution's VPN [virtual private network].

Step 3

1. Select your institution from the dropdown menu. e.g. "UniSA" (see image below)

2. Click the "Select" button.

3. You will be propted to enter your institutional user name and password. CAFAS should open soon thereafter.

NOTE! Dealing with Errors in CAFAS

If an error window pops up is it important to Refresh your web browser. In Internet Explorer the keyboard shortcut for Refresh is F5. You will have to reselect the Assignment/Student you were working on, however if this step is not taken errors may be compounded resulting in data loss: always Refresh after an error.
